My wife's maiden name was MAXWELL. Her great grandfather, William Maxwell
died 5 November 1880 in Lenox, Macomb County, MI. He had two wives: (i)
Harty ESTES, who he married on 23 May 1841 in Lenox, and (ii) Melissa E.
DIBBLE, nee Estes, who he married 22 Oct 1868 in Lenox. (My wife, Mary
OLSON, descends from the second wife.)
According to a patent (deed) dated 3 August 1839, recorded 1 June 1854 in
Macomb County, William was "of York County Maine." The record of his second
marriage recites that his birthplace was Berwick, MA.
The record of his first marriage in August 1841 gives his age as 26 (i.e.,
born 1814-15). My wife also possesses a handwritten copy of a family Bible
record that gives William's birth date as 11 September 1819--but it is, of
course, possible that the "1819" is a misreading of "1814."
My wife has been unable to tie William to any of the many Maxwells in York
County. We would appreciate hearing from any other descendants of WilliamMaxwell, or from anyone who has a theory as to the identity of his parents.

I have been looking for HINDES/HINDS relatives in Michigan and have not been very successful to date. Am wondering if anyone has any access to information on Emma Hinds Clark b. 1871 in New York, m. Kizzie Clark in Michigan about 1887/1888 and died between 1891 and 1894. Kizzie then married an Ida, born in Germany. Emma and Kizzie had a son Horace b. Sept. 1888 in Michigan. Kizzie and Emma were witnesses to the marriage of her brother Emerson Drown Hinds and Ruth Emma May McCauley in Jan. 1891 in Shelby,Mi. As a direct decendant of General Alex MACOMB, I have been looking for additinal information on his family. I believe that Macombs father moved to New York about 1785 Alex ll born 1782. Alex l had 18 children by two wives. Alex ll, for whom Macomb County was named was number 7 by his first wife, catherine Navarre. I am researching approximately 25 letters written by George W. BUTTERFIELD of the 22nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry. These letters were written to his brother Howard Butterfield between 1862 and 1865. Both men were from Macomb Co., MI, as were several others in the 22nd. George worked as a postal carrier after the war in Bay City, MI. Matilda had one sister, Louisa HESSE, who married August HARTLEB between 1870-72. Matilda also known as "Tillie". Matilda, sister Louisa & another sister (?), Amelia Frauchlich, are shown as heirs to Wilhelmina GEORGE on land deeds in Macomb County in the 1870s & 1890s. We are searching for the parents and family of Madaline J. SCHREDER (maiden name BOND). She was b. Oct. 1903 possibly in Mich. or Canada, d. 2/4/1961 in Macomb County. She was married to Merrill Lyle SCHREDER. She was supposedly one of five girls: three of her sisters' married names were Mildred Fennell, Betty Snyder, Marie La Duke. We think her father was named Harold Bond or possibly Falardo Bond. The father may have come from Canada. We think her mother's name was Bell. Hello! I am looking for information on my great-uncle, Robert "Bob"
ROBY and his family. They lived in the Detroit/Harrison Twp. area for
many years. Bob died on Apr. 18, 1989 at the age of 78. I would love

I am looking for any information on Mary Arilla Hanks De CLOEDT. She was
living at St. Clare Shores in 1941. Have not heard from her since. She was
an aunt to my cousin and we have been trying to find out what happened to
her. She has one brother left, Jack Hanks and he would love to know what
happened to her. He is almost 80 and I believe she was older.

I am searching for more information on my EICK ancestors who were enumerated in the 1900 census in Sterling Twnshp, Macomb CO. They were Charles, Edward and Conrad Eick. My great Uncle Conrad was enumerated in a separate household than his father and brother. He was counted with John Heines household as a house servant. My grandfather, Edward, was enumerated in the household of an Ira Chapman as a laborer. Edward m. Ellen Mary Ann LOVELL in 1920 in or near Macomb Co. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Eick info. is scarce, and great uncle Conrad was killed in a truck accident in Detroit in 1941. Not sure where is buried.
I do know that Edward Eick, my grandfather, married Ellen Lovell in 1920 in Detroit. They lived in and around Stony Creek and Rochester a while, then moved to a farm on Hunter's Creek Road in Metamora in 1937. Grandpa Edward farmed there and raised three sons; Clarence, Charles and Conrad (my dad.) Grandma Ellen died in 1958 and Edward in 1969. Uncle Clarence passed away in 1981 and the family farm was split up and sold. Uncle Charles died in 1992. Any additional details, leads or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to research my family
tree. I do know that they come from St Clair Shores in the Flats, that my great great
grandmother's name was Harriet SEARS well known in the Flats for their
hunting and fishing. Her husband's name was Joseph Sears. My papers say that
Harriet LOZON Sears came from Canada. That I am not sure of. She died
March 16 1922 in the Flats Lake St Clair. Her husband Joseph Sears was born
Aug 1849 died April 1921 in Lake St Clair. Harriet's mother's name was Harriet
FOSTER Lozon and her father Paul Lozon says Assumption married
November 19 1849 2nd wife I was told that the family was Indian and I would
like to know and find out more about the my family.

In St. Clair Shores there is a street named Furton. According to Cindy Bieniek, Archivist at the St. Clair Shores Library, this street was named for the Forton (Freton/Furton) Family who owned a bar that was located on the corner of Furton and Jefferson. This bar was the ice boating headquarters for many years. Cindy's source on the naming of the street was Muskrat Tales, the local history magazine. Granted that this is true, does anyone know which Furton/Forton owned the bar? Any information is appreciated.

connections to Romeo and the surrounding communities. I am the daughter of
William Richard BAILEY (b. Feb. 10 1930, Detroit, d. July 6, 1998,
Lexington, KY) who is the son of
Elton William Bailey (b. Aug. 29 Capac, MI, d. July 22, 1960, Monroe, MI)
who is the son of Harry L. Bailey (b. April 18, 1876, Canada, d. April 4,
1960, Monroe, MI) who is the son of William Bailey (b. 1843? unknown, d.
1917, Richmond, Michigan) who is the son of Richard Bailey (b. 1801?, d.
unknown).
Richard Bailey lived in town of Armada in the 1850s and 1860s, according to
the census records. He had eight children, two of which married Hathaways:
Rock married (I don't have the name here) and Elizabeth Bailey married
Chanuncy HATHAWAY. While I havenšt proven this yet, I do believe Richard
Bailey was in some way related to Romeo's founder Asahel Bailey.
William Bailey (who married Elizabeth Loop) lived in Richmond Township in
the 1880s, 1900s, and 1910s. He had three children, of which his son Harry
married Amy Burch June 14, 1902 in Capac MI.

who was born in Hull (York) England 24 May 1840. He arrived in Canada in
1857 near Stouffville, Ontario and went to Richmond (Macomb) in 1859. He

My aunt, Marie FOLEY, was born in Cincinnati in 1899. Following the
death of her parents, Daniel J. & Lydia Arnsperger Foley, she lived with

I am seeking information on William George REINDEL or REINDELL, b. Fraser,
Macomb County, in 1871; d. Cleveland (?), Ohio 1948. He was a painter and
etcher, whose works are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other museums.
Late in his life he married Amelia (Emily) MATTMUELLER, whom I believe was
his second wife (although I am not sure). He may be related to another
artist, Edna Reindel, a painter in the 1930s and 1040s. Any assistance will
be appreciated.
