NAME: Sandy Lane
Daniel S. (Smith?) LANE (b. =1796) moved from (Virginia?) to the Bedford/Louisville, Kentucky area around the early 1820s. Through most of his adult life he was a prominent Trimble County official, at times a commissioner, sheriff, judge, etc. I believe he had three brothers. His brother Henry lived in Louisville and was a doctor. The other brothers' names may have been Richard and Joseph. Daniel died sometime after 1870.

Daniel S. Lane had at least thirteen children by two (Susan BARTLETT and Sarah Ann GATEWOOD) or possibly three wives. His children's names were:
Powhatan B. Lane (b. =1823) - this given name has me curious
William Bartlett Lane (b. =1826) - his wife Lydia wrote a book about army life
Richard Newton Lane, Dr. (b. 1828), my husband's line, buried in Texas
George B. Lane (died young?)
Sophronia Lane (b. =1830), married Nathaniel Parker
Mary Lane (b. =1835)
Henrietta Lane (b. =1837)
Malvina Lane (b. =1839)
Sarah F. Lane (b. =1841)
Nancy R. Lane (b. =1843)
Lara Lane (b. =1846)
Frances Lane (b. =1849)
Franklin P. Lane (b. 10 JAN 1853)
Last year I contacted the library and the only information they had on Daniel S. Lane was a record of a marriage. I hope that through you and the Trimble County website and historical society books you might be able to do a quick check on the Lane surname and come up with some info/leads. Thank you. Sandy Lane

NAME: June Chesky
My Dad, Forest William WILSON, was born in 1909 on a riverboat going up the Ohio river. He claimed Nov. 1st as his birthday although that was not certain. He was, according to him, born on a riverboat and adopted by Richard and Louisa Catherine Wilson, residents of Milton, Ky. Richard was a barber in Milton. They were older when married and had no natural born children. I have pictures of them standing outside their home in a holler in Milton. Is there any possibility of finding riverboats in that area in the Fall of 1909? Were there too many to be able to narrow the search to one? Daddy was supposed to be aboout 6 weeks old when he was given to my grandmother by someone on the riverboat. Would an illicit birth, probably what it was, be recorded? Did there need to be an adoption? So many questions and so few answers right now. Grandma's maiden name was SINGER and she was kin to Elias Singer the sewing maching inventor. He was an uncle from what we understood. Thank you for taking my inquiry and for any information you may be able to share with me. June Chesky

I have hit a brick wall on Merrifield Colbert and Catherine Kendall. I have my mother's Ball ancestors back to William Penn's Pennsylvania colony and will be glad to share what I have with anyone researching the BALL, COLBERT, HAWKINS, HOLMES, CHANDLER, and STARK lines, although I don't have a lot on the Chandlers after they came to Trimble County.

Also, I would like to hear from anyone who is researching the family of Francis M. SMITH b VA 15 Mar 1875 d 16 Mar 1963, and his wife Katherine b KY 15 Feb 1880 d 9 Jan 1961. They once lived on Corn Creek. They were the great-grandparents of two of my grandchildren. H. and Mary Roberts Smith. Their children were 9 sons: William, J. B. who had a twin who died in infancy, Clarence, James, Edgar and Lewis, Ollie and Malcolm; and 5 daughters: Mary, Geneva, Nettie, Lucille and Minnie. Thank you!Violet Wirth

NAME: Nathan Riley
I am trying to find information on Samuel PARKER and his wife Anna. Their daughter, Nancy Jane PARKER (b. abt. 1837) is, to the best of my knowledge, my great-great grandmother.

I understand that Samuel was b. abt. 1807 in Kentucky and Anna, whose maiden name I do not know, abt. 1805 in NC.

There is a paper in the Warrick County, IN courthouse that reads as follows: "Warrick County Campbell Township June 2th 1855 I Nicholas & Sarah Riley the father & mother of Aron Riley all of the County of Warrick & State of Indiana gave our consent to the marriage of the Said Aron Riley & Nancy Jane Parker of the same county. witness our hands Nicholas Riley Sarah Riley Attest James A. Rough"

Whatever became of this Nancy I would like to know. Aaron Riley re-marries Mariah Nicholson 4 Jul 1858 after marrying Nancy in 1855. Perhaps Nancy died in childbirth? Anyone connect to these PARKERS? Nancy apparently had a sister named Lucy. That's all.Nathan Riley
